Demand for online delivery services is on the rise in Saudi Arabia, as indicated by recent data published by the Kingdom’s commerce ministry.
According to the latest sectoral bulletin, there has been a 61 per cent increase in the number of registered e-delivery businesses in Saudi Arabia.
The data reveals a significant uptick, with the number of e-delivery companies rising from 2,903 in Q4 of 2023 to 4,699 in Q1 of 2024.
Leading the Kingdom in e-delivery companies is Riyadh, with 2,473, followed by Makkah (1,253), the Eastern Province (468), Madinah (137), and Al-Qassim (114).
The e-commerce sector is also seeing growth, with a 17 per cent increase in the number of registered e-commerce businesses between the final quarter of 2023 and the first three months of this year.
The number of registered e-commerce businesses rose from 33,074 in Q4 of 2023 to 38,850 in Q1 of 2024.
The latest bulletin highlights particularly strong growth in Riyadh, Makkah, and the Eastern regions.
The growth in Saudi Arabia’s e-commerce sector is a key aspect of the country’s Vision 2030 objectives, aiming to increase the contribution of modern trade and e-commerce to 80 per cent of the retail sector.
