Dubai/Mexico City, May 24, 2024 — Emirates and Viva Aerobus have signed an interline agreement to enhance connectivity for passengers traveling to and within Mexico. This partnership allows Emirates customers to seamlessly travel from Mexico City to 21 domestic destinations, with the convenience of a single baggage policy across both airlines on one ticket.
The agreement not only simplifies domestic travel but also unlocks numerous international routes for Emirates customers. It offers 20 convenient flight options connecting six key Mexican cities with popular American destinations. The interline network includes direct flights from various US cities to select Mexican destinations, providing a broader range of travel choices for passengers.
Mexico City travelers can now easily access direct flights to major US cities such as Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York (JFK), and San Antonio. This enhancement aims to provide a seamless travel experience for both domestic and international travelers.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, expressed his enthusiasm for the new partnership, stating, “We are pleased to activate an interline partnership with Viva Aerobus to deepen our reach into Mexico, beyond Mexico City. This new partnership provides our customers with more choices to suit their travel plans and enables them to seamlessly fly to a host of unique destinations in Mexico.”
Javier Suarez, EVP and Chief Planning and Alliances Officer at Viva Aerobus, echoed this sentiment, saying, “We are excited about this new partnership with Emirates. Connecting Emirates routes from Barcelona with our Mexico City network allows Emirates’ passengers to seamlessly reach many other destinations in Mexico and the US. Equally, this opportunity allows passengers from many Mexican cities to make a short stop in Mexico City, board an Emirates flight to reach Barcelona, and continue their trip to Dubai and beyond.”
Mexico is an integral part of the Emirates network, which spans nearly 140 destinations worldwide. Emirates commenced its services to Mexico City in 2019 and currently operates daily flights to the Mexican capital via Barcelona.
Emirates has a robust commercial cooperation framework, with agreements in place with 161 interline, codeshare, and intermodal partners. This new interline agreement with Viva Aerobus further enhances the airline’s service offerings, providing passengers with more flexible and convenient travel options.
