Qatar has rolled out an automated system to update the registered business activities of existing companies in line with the new GCC Unified Economic Activities Classification framework.
The initiative aims to enhance the accuracy of commercial records, improve transparency, and create a more unified approach to classifying economic activities across the Gulf region.
Implementation will take place in three stages to ensure a smooth transition for businesses operating in different sectors.
The first stage applies to companies whose existing activities correspond directly to a single category under the updated classification system.
The second stage will cover businesses whose activities fall under multiple categories and require more detailed alignment with the new framework.
The final stage will focus on enterprises that combine commercial and industrial operations within the same entity.
Authorities confirmed that the updates will be carried out automatically, meaning business owners will not need to submit applications or make any manual changes.
Officials stressed that the process will not affect commercial registrations or alter the nature of companies’ existing operations.
The revised classification framework is expected to strengthen regulatory efficiency, reduce duplication in activity descriptions, and provide a clearer picture of the country’s economic landscape.
