Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), welcomed a senior-level delegation from Etihad Rail, the company responsible for developing and operating the UAE’s national railway network.
The delegation was headed by Mohammed Abdulla Alshehhi, Chief Projects Officer, alongside Ahmed Lootah, Executive Director – Commercial.
During the meeting, Al Tayer praised Etihad Rail for its significant contribution to sustainable economic development and national connectivity. He described the railway network as an important enabler of the UAE’s future ambitions and a key component of the country’s long-term growth strategy.
Al Tayer also highlighted DEWA’s extensive capabilities in the fields of energy and smart technologies, noting that these strengths support Etihad Rail’s role as a crucial logistics and mobility network across the UAE.
He emphasised that DEWA’s expertise in solar energy, energy storage solutions, smart grid systems and AI-powered infrastructure aligns closely with Etihad Rail’s strategic objectives. This collaboration creates opportunities to integrate clean energy into railway operations while advancing intelligent and sustainable transport and utility corridors that contribute to low-carbon development.
Both organisations explored potential areas of cooperation that align with the UAE’s vision of building world-class infrastructure and fostering a sustainable future. The partnership aims to support the nation’s net-zero goals, drive the development of low-carbon infrastructure and establish a global example of sustainable national progress.
