The developers of the UAE’s inaugural casino resort have revealed the property’s new name and design vision. Wynn Resorts has confirmed that the resort, located in Ras Al Khaimah, will be known as Wynn Al Marjan Island. The resort is being developed in collaboration with local partners Marjan LLC and RAK Hospitality Holding.
Wynn Al Marjan Island will feature a beachfront design, inspired by the sea views of Al Marjan Island, a cluster of four islands. The luxury resort will offer entertainment and gaming amenities, as well as premium hospitality services. Rising 305m above sea level, the resort promises visitors a serene and stylish experience that brings the warm, relaxed ocean setting into the modern world-class hotel. This is the first project of the US-listed luxury resort operator in the Middle East North Africa (MENA) region, according to Arabian Business.
Wynn Al Marjan Island is estimated to cost around $3.9B and will be a game-changer in the Emirate’s tourism industry by providing job opportunities and boosting the economy. The development of the resort will also accelerate the growth of related business sectors. The project will have around 1,500 rooms, suites, and villas, all reflecting the brand’s signature design.
It will offer a variety of entertainment options, a gaming area, 24 dining and lounge experiences, spa and wellness facilities, high-end shopping, an events center, and a theatre hosting a unique production show. Visitors can enjoy nightly laser and light shows, and the resort caters to both day trips and longer visits from neighboring emirates. Foundation construction work began earlier this year.
Craig Billings, CEO of Wynn Resorts, said: “We have spent the past year meticulously programming and concepting Wynn Al Marjan Island, carefully considering its unique location. I am incredibly proud of our design and development team’s ability to impart our legacy of rich, thoughtful design into a sun-soaked beachside resort that will delight customers, new and old.
“We look forward to opening Wynn Al Marjan Island in early 2027.”
According to Colliers International, the UAE’s first casino at the Wynn Resorts’ planned hotel in Ras Al Khaimah is expected to be a major driver of tourism for the emirate. The investment management specialists previously published a report on the future of tourism in Ras Al Khaimah and predicted that the Wynn Al Marjan Island Resort could attract 5.5 million tourists to the region by 2030, significantly surpassing the target number of 3 million.
