US crude futures climbed in early trading on Friday, rising as much as 3% amid improving market sentiment.
West Texas Intermediate crude was up 2.58%, or $2.45, at $97.26 per barrel as of 2233 GMT, after earlier gaining more than 3%. However, the move followed a weaker close in the prior session, when the contract settled down 27 cents at $94.81 per barrel.
