Dubai Electricity and Water Authority PJSC (DEWA) announced record consolidated financial performance for the first quarter of 2026, with revenue reaching AED6.45B. The utility also posted EBITDA of AED2.88B, operating profit of AED1.29B, and net profit of AED0.94B.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman and MD & CEO of DEWA, stated that the organisation continues to prioritise innovation and sustainability in alignment with the vision of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai; and His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.
Al Tayer said DEWA achieved a strong opening to 2026, recording its highest-ever first-quarter revenue, EBITDA, operating profit, and net profit. He noted that consolidated net profit rose by almost 90 percent year-on-year, while clean energy contributed 18.5 percent of the total electricity generated during the period.
He further highlighted that DEWA expanded its water infrastructure by introducing an additional 60 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) of desalination capacity, increasing the company’s total installed desalination capacity to 555 MIGD.
According to Al Tayer, DEWA’s standalone net profit for the first quarter stood at AED1.05B, reflecting a 55.8 percent rise compared to the corresponding period in 2025.
He also noted that DEWA paid AED3.1B in dividends in April 2026 for the second half of 2025 and, pending approvals, plans to distribute a further AED3.1B dividend in October 2026 for the first half of 2026.
From an operational perspective, DEWA generated a record 11.09 terawatt-hours (TWh) of electricity during the quarter, representing year-on-year growth of 5.65 percent. Clean energy output totalled 2.06 TWh, accounting for 18.5 percent of overall generation.
Production of desalinated water climbed to a record 37.57 billion imperial gallons (BIG), marking an increase of 5.51 percent compared to the same quarter last year.
During the quarter, DEWA added 19,803 new customer accounts. Over the 12 months ending in the first quarter of 2026, the total number of customer accounts grew by 65,086, reflecting annual growth of 5.08 percent.
