UAE-based investment firm Shorooq has joined a $1.03 billion funding round for French artificial intelligence startup AMI Labs, established by former Meta chief AI scientist Yann LeCun.
The investment round, which also attracted backing from major players including Nvidia, Temasek and Mark Cuban, has pushed the company’s valuation to roughly $4.5 billion. The funds will be used to advance AMI’s efforts to build AI systems capable of understanding cause-and-effect relationships and the mechanics of the physical world.
Shorooq, which operates across venture capital, credit, private equity and real assets, stated that the investment supports its broader global AI strategy. The firm noted that the move complements its initiatives aimed at connecting emerging AI ecosystems across the United States, Europe and the Middle East.
