The UAE’s new crude oil pipeline aimed at bypassing the Strait of Hormuz has reached the halfway stage, according to ADNOC CEO Sultan Al Jaber. Construction is progressing rapidly as the country works towards launching the project in 2027.
The development is part of the UAE’s broader efforts to enhance energy security and reduce dependence on the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil shipping routes that continues to face geopolitical risks.
Speaking during an Atlantic Council event, Al Jaber stated that the pipeline project is advancing ahead of schedule, with construction activities being accelerated to meet the planned operational timeline.
The upcoming West-East Pipeline is expected to boost the UAE’s export capabilities through Fujairah, allowing larger volumes of crude oil to bypass the Strait entirely and strengthening the country’s global energy infrastructure.
The update comes as tensions in the region continue to impact shipping activity and global oil markets, prompting major producers to prioritise alternative export routes and long-term supply stability.
