The UAE has introduced a new Taxpayer Charter to delineate tax regulations within the country.
In a bid to uphold transparency and clarity standards across the UAE tax system, the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has released the Taxpayer Charter. This official document defines and elucidates a set of fundamental rights and obligations for taxpayers in the nation.
Forming an integral part of the Authority’s initiatives, the Charter aims to enhance taxpayers’ awareness of their rights and obligations, fostering self-compliance with tax regulations.
Khalid Ali Al Bustani, FTA Director-General, affirmed, “The FTA is committed to ensuring transparency and clarity in the UAE tax system. Introducing the official Taxpayer Charter is a significant step towards this objective, outlining taxpayers’ obligations and rights, thereby promoting transparency and enhancing service quality.”
The Charter delineates taxpayers’ rights, including fair treatment, consistent application of tax legislation, privacy, and access to accurate information. It also underscores taxpayers’ obligations, such as compliance with tax obligations, providing accurate information, cooperating with the FTA, and aiding in deterring tax evasion.
This initiative is part of the FTA’s broader efforts to educate taxpayers about the UAE tax system through awareness campaigns, workshops, and various resources available on its official website.
