The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure intends to set up more than 500 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations nationwide by the close of 2025, as stated by Sharif Al Olama, Under-Secretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs.
During the preliminary day of the World Governments Summit, Al Olama disclosed that the ministry, which owns a 50 per cent share in UAEV, installed over 100 EV charging stations across the country in 2024.
According to Al Olama, the ministry is targeting an increase in renewable energy capacity to exceed 14 gigawatts by 2030, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to advancing clean energy solutions.
This initiative is being implemented in partnership with private sector entities and local government authorities.
The expansion of the EV charging infrastructure aligns with the rising adoption of electric vehicles in the UAE, supporting the nation’s efforts to lower carbon emissions through sustainable transportation.
