A delegation from the United Arab Emirates, led by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, took part in the 7th BRICS Youth Energy Summit, held in Brazil. The summit brought together youth delegations featuring distinguished professionals and specialists from BRICS member nations and invited partner countries.
The UAE’s delegation comprised representatives from key national institutions in the energy sector, including the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), the Federal Youth Authority, Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), and the Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA).
This involvement reflects the UAE’s continued commitment to advancing international collaboration, empowering young talent, and demonstrating its leadership in energy transition. It also aligns with the objectives of Sustainable Development Goal 7, which seeks to guarantee universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy.
The UAE delegation served as a keynote speaker during the panel discussion titled “Technological Advancements for Low-Carbon Power Systems,” where it outlined the nation’s strides in establishing intelligent, resilient energy infrastructure built on low-carbon solutions—such as clean hydrogen, solar power, and sustainable aviation fuel.
The delegation further showcased the UAE’s forward-thinking national strategies, particularly the UAE Energy Strategy 2050 and the National Hydrogen Strategy 2050.
Moreover, it reaffirmed the UAE’s resolve to act on the outcomes of the historic UAE Consensus, introduced under its COP28 presidency. This includes promoting a fair and inclusive transition from fossil fuels, scaling up renewable energy solutions, and realising climate neutrality by the year 2050.
