The Republic of Korea’s industry ministry revealed on Tuesday its intention to invest 3T won ($2.26B) in the robot sector through collaborations with private businesses by 2030, aiming to provide 1 million robots to local industries, according to a report by Yonhap news agency.
The strategy for intelligent robots will concentrate on achieving 80 percent local sourcing of key robot components by 2030, an increase from the current estimate of 44 percent, as outlined by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
The nation plans to promptly eliminate approximately 50 regulations to facilitate the development of the robot industry and nurture 15,000 experts, the ministry added.
Through these initiatives, the Republic of Korea seeks to deploy 1 million robots across diverse sectors, including agriculture, logistics, defence, and healthcare.
Additional objectives encompass creating robot-friendly infrastructure and establishing ethical guidelines for the development and utilization of robots.
The plan aims to elevate the size of the local robot industry to 20T won in 2030, in contrast to the 5.6T won recorded in 2021, according to WAM.
