Microsoft and du have announced a partnership to establish a state-of-the-art data centre in Dubai, valued at approximately AED 2 billion (USD 545 million).
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Future Foundation, attended the announcement of the new hyperscale data facility, which will be developed and managed by du in cooperation with Microsoft.
The unveiling took place during Dubai AI Week 2025, hosted by the Dubai Centre for Artificial Intelligence, a Dubai Future Foundation initiative. Running until 25 April, the event spans key venues including the Museum of the Future, AREA 2071, and Emirates Towers Boulevard.
Planned in multiple phases, the data centre will gradually scale its operations to meet escalating digital demands. Microsoft will be the anchor tenant, using the site’s cutting-edge capabilities to enhance its cloud services and next-gen digital offerings.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasised that the development represents a major investment in digital infrastructure, consolidating Dubai’s leadership in embracing advanced technology and smart services. He remarked: “Data is the wealth of tomorrow and underpins technological advancement”.
This initiative aligns with Dubai’s ambition to evolve into a global digital hub. The facility will cater to growing needs for AI technologies, sovereign cloud solutions, and broader digital expansion across the region.
The project supports the goals of the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence, launched in 2024, which prioritises talent development, AI integration in governance, and infrastructure growth. It highlights the UAE’s drive for innovation, economic resilience, and sustainability.
Currently, du operates multiple data centre locations nationwide. Dubai AI Week 2025 features over 180 speakers, 150+ sessions, and participants from more than 100 countries, uniting global experts to shape the future of AI.
