The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan have signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships across multiple sectors. The signing ceremony took place on Monday during an official meeting between UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar in Islamabad.
The high-level dialogue marked a significant step forward in deepening UAE-Pakistan ties, with both sides reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing collaboration in trade, culture, consular affairs, and beyond.
Expanding UAE-Pakistan Diplomatic and Economic Cooperation
During their discussions, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Ishaq Dar explored various avenues to enhance bilateral cooperation, with a focus on aligning their efforts to support each country’s developmental goals. Both leaders reviewed key strategic issues tied to the enduring UAE-Pakistan partnership and highlighted the mutual desire to strengthen relations across multiple vital sectors.
Sheikh Abdullah praised the deep-rooted friendship between the UAE and Pakistan, emphasizing the enduring bond and the shared vision that unite the two nations. He also expressed his willingness to work closely with Ishaq Dar to further strengthen this distinguished partnership while wishing Pakistan continued progress and prosperity.
Key MoUs Signed to Support Consular, Cultural, and Economic Ties
The meeting concluded with the formal signing of two significant MoUs and one strategic agreement between the two governments.
Among the agreements signed were:
- An MoU to establish a Joint Consular Affairs Committee, which aims to streamline consular services and strengthen cooperation in consular matters.
- An agreement to enhance cultural cooperation between the UAE and Pakistan, reflecting the countries’ commitment to promoting cultural exchange and heritage appreciation.
- The UAE-Pakistan Joint Business Council MoU, designed to promote closer economic collaboration between Emirati and Pakistani business communities.
Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, UAE Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs, and Atif Ikram Sheikh, President of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, exchanged this particular MoU.
High-Level Attendance Reflects Growing Partnership
The meeting was also attended by prominent Emirati officials, including Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, UAE Minister of State; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs; Abdulla Balalaa, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Energy and Sustainability; and Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan.
Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed arrived in Islamabad on Sunday for a two-day official visit, underscoring the UAE’s commitment to fostering stronger diplomatic, cultural, and economic ties with Pakistan.
