The UAE has created a new Ministry of Foreign Trade, appointing Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi as its minister. This decision reflects the nation’s strategy to strengthen its global economic footprint and prepare for long-term development.
Announcing the move, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, emphasized the need to “prepare for the coming decades, ensure prosperity and a decent life for future generations.” His statement reaffirmed the leadership’s commitment to proactive, forward-looking governance.
AI to Guide Policy Across All Government Sectors
In a groundbreaking step, the UAE will integrate the National Artificial Intelligence System as an advisory member across several high-level bodies. Starting in January 2026, AI will support the Cabinet, the Ministerial Development Council, and boards of directors for all federal entities and government companies.
Sheikh Mohammed explained that the AI system will offer immediate analysis, technical guidance, and decision support. It aims to improve government efficiency and policy effectiveness across every sector.
This initiative reflects the UAE’s broader mission to apply advanced technology to governance. In doing so, the country positions itself as a global leader in digital transformation and smart policymaking.
Ministry of Economy Expands to Include Tourism
In another adjustment, the Ministry of Economy has been renamed the Ministry of Economy and Tourism. It will continue under the leadership of Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri. The change signals a heightened focus on tourism as a driver of economic diversification.
These institutional reforms are part of the UAE’s wider agenda to maintain stability, create opportunity, and remain adaptive in an ever-changing world. With a clear roadmap for the future, the country continues to lead in policy innovation and strategic foresight.
