In a groundbreaking move, ADNOC and e& have announced a strategic partnership to construct the largest private 5G wireless network in the energy industry. This network will span an extensive 11,000 square kilometers, providing robust, high-bandwidth connectivity across ADNOC’s onshore and offshore operations. Scheduled for completion in 2025, the project is anticipated to generate $1.5 billion (Dhs5.5 billion) in value over its first five years.
Enhancing Efficiency and Reducing Emissions
The new 5G network will revolutionize ADNOC’s operational efficiency by integrating advanced artificial intelligence (AI) solutions at remote facilities. This initiative will facilitate autonomous operations, optimize production, reduce costs through automation, enhance efficiency, minimize emissions, and improve safety.
As global demand for both energy and AI continues to rise, therefore, by investing in cutting-edge connectivity across our operations, we can consequently ensure a secure, reliable, and responsible energy supply. Furthermore, this strategic partnership will not only generate value but also enable faster, smarter decisions. Additionally, it will future-proof our business while simultaneously ensuring the safety of our people and the environment.
Setting New Industry Standards
The 5G network will relay information from sensors in over 12,000 wells and pipelines to autonomous control rooms, facilitating real-time recommendations to extend asset lifespan and ensure field safety. Moreover, it will also enable the digitalization of wellheads and subsequently provide end-to-end operational visibility, thus driving productivity across ADNOC’s value chain.
Jassem Mohamed Bu Ataba Alzaabi, chairman of e&, emphasized the transformative potential of the collaboration. “Our collaboration with ADNOC will create a cutting-edge private 5G network, underscoring our dedication to harnessing technology for sustainable and intelligent transformation in the energy sector. Connectivity is the backbone of technological advancements, and we’re leveraging our expertise in network and AI innovations to drive breakthroughs in the energy sector and beyond. This partnership sets new industry standards and redefines possibilities.”
This initiative is part of ADNOC’s multi-year program to accelerate the deployment of AI solutions across its value chain, reinforcing its strategy to develop and implement pioneering technologies.
