They also aim to standardise systems and processes linked to drones, contribute to establishing the emirate as a centre for the drone industry, enhance intelligent transportation, promote innovation in aviation, and attract investment in Abu Dhabi’s drone sector.
The decree pertains to all varieties of drones and associated activities within the emirate.
This encompasses design, manufacturing, assembly, alteration, examination, upkeep, or creation of simulation systems, training, accreditation, clubs, infrastructure expansion, airports, refuelling stations, energy, or other activities and applications related to operated drones within the emirate, including free zones; except for the exempted drones and activities outlined in Federal Decree by Law No. (26) of 2022 governing the Regulation of Civil Use of Drones and Associated Activities.
Additionally, the DMT clarified that it has taken on numerous responsibilities under the applicable legislation, such as supervision, permit and certificate issuance, formulation of regulations for drone flight conditions, and establishment of standards for drone take-off and landing sites, in addition to developing guidelines for drone-specific infrastructure like airports and runways in collaboration with relevant local and federal authorities.
The DMT will also conduct awareness workshops for drone owners and operators, encompassing both individuals and entities.
These sessions will elucidate the procedures and prerequisites for drone operation and linked activities within the emirate, in compliance with administrative directives, civil aviation regulations, and technical guidelines regulating drone systems in Abu Dhabi.
