Saudi Arabia has made a significant change to its visa application process for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) residents.
Under the new rules, GCC residents and their first-degree relatives are eligible to apply for a tourist visa regardless of their profession, as long as their residency permit is valid for at least three months and their passport for at least six months.
Previously, the eVisa was only available to those with approved occupations. The change comes as part of the Saudi Tourism Ministry’s efforts to promote the kingdom’s various tourist destinations and heritage.
The ministry has also expanded eligible categories and introduced new options for those visiting Saudi Arabia for tourism. This follows the introduction of a free transit visa in January and the launch of the Nusuk platform for pilgrims and visitors.
