The UAE has launched a major new initiative focused on integrating Agentic AI into government operations, aiming to reshape how public services are delivered over the next few years. The strategy was introduced by Mohammad Al Gergawi during the Agentic AI Retreat held at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, where hundreds of senior officials and technology leaders gathered to discuss the future of AI-powered governance.
Al Gergawi explained that the country’s leadership has spent years preparing the foundation for advanced artificial intelligence adoption through policy reforms, digital infrastructure investment, and innovation-focused strategies. He noted that the UAE has positioned itself among the world’s leading nations in AI readiness and implementation.
He described Agentic AI as the next evolution of artificial intelligence, moving beyond traditional generative systems. Unlike standard AI tools that respond to commands, Agentic AI can independently plan tasks, analyse information, and make operational decisions with minimal human input, allowing governments to automate increasingly complex processes.
The minister also highlighted that the technology is intended to support employees rather than replace them. By automating repetitive administrative responsibilities, AI systems can help government staff focus on strategic planning, innovation, and higher-value work that requires human judgement and creativity.
To support the rollout, the UAE government has introduced several implementation tracks overseen by ministers and senior officials. These focus on workforce development, data governance, operational systems, policymaking, and expanding AI-enabled public services across federal entities.
A central part of the strategy involves training tens of thousands of federal employees to work alongside Agentic AI systems. Authorities believe the initiative will improve productivity, accelerate service delivery, and strengthen efficiency across government departments.
Officials also see the programme as an important step in advancing the UAE’s broader economic and digital transformation ambitions. The integration of advanced AI technologies is expected to drive innovation, attract investment, and reinforce the country’s standing as a leading global hub for emerging technologies.
