Dubai Municipality has introduced a project to install electric vehicle (EV) supercharging stations across 600 parking spaces in parks, beaches, and leisure destinations, supported by an investment of AED150 million ($40.8 million).
The initiative is being executed in partnership with UAEV (Emarat EV Charging Stations Company), with a focus on strengthening charging infrastructure across prominent public locations in the emirate.
This move aligns with Dubai’s wider efforts to advance sustainable urban development, encouraging the adoption of clean mobility solutions while enhancing accessibility across public spaces.
During the first phase, 75 supercharging stations will be rolled out across 150 parking spaces over the next two years, targeting high-footfall areas such as parks, beachfronts, and community hubs.
The programme supports key strategic agendas, including the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the Greenery and Parks Strategy 2040, while also opening opportunities for increased private sector involvement in sustainable infrastructure.
Authorities noted that integrating EV charging solutions into popular recreational destinations will reinforce Dubai’s green mobility ecosystem and elevate overall user convenience.
The initiative contributes to the UAE’s long-term objective of increasing EV adoption to 50 percent of total vehicles by 2050, supporting broader clean energy and net-zero targets.
Upon completion, visitors will be able to charge their vehicles while utilising leisure facilities, seamlessly integrating sustainability into daily routines.
