The UAE is expected to announce revised petrol prices that will come into effect from the start of 2026.
Fuel prices rose across all categories during 2025, with fluctuations resulting in higher costs for motorists compared to the beginning of the year.
Petrol and diesel rates were adjusted on a monthly basis throughout the year, with minor increases and decreases typically announced on the final day of each month.
In January 2025, fuel retailers priced E-Plus 91 at AED2.43 per litre, while diesel was set at AED2.68 per litre.
Based on current rates, E-Plus 91 is now slightly more expensive at AED2.51 per litre than it was at the start of the year.
Special 95 and Super 98 have also become costlier over the year, with Special 95 rising from AED2.50 to AED2.58 per litre and Super 98 increasing from AED2.61 to AED2.70 per litre.
Since 1 December, petrol prices across the UAE have remained at current levels, reflecting higher costs across all fuel categories.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the UAE’s Fuel Price Committee froze petrol prices, suspending any adjustments during the period.
The price controls were lifted in March 2021 as global oil prices began to rise, allowing petrol prices to once again be determined by market dynamics.
Movements in global crude oil prices continue to influence petrol price fluctuations in the UAE.
