Highs Up to 47ºC in Internal Regions
The United Arab Emirates is set to experience a fair to partly cloudy day on Sunday, June 30, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
The NCM reported that low clouds are anticipated to appear over the East Coast by morning. On Saturday, the meteorological department had similarly forecasted low clouds over the East Coast, with the potential for some convective clouds forming over the mountains, possibly resulting in rainfall. Today’s weather is expected to be fair, a significant change from yesterday’s foggy conditions. On Saturday, a red and yellow alert were issued for fog, with the warning stating that fog formation could cause a “deterioration in horizontal visibility, which may drop even further at times over some internal areas from 6am until 8.30am.”
Despite the persistent high temperatures, hail and rain were observed in some parts of the country on Saturday. The meteorological department also issued an orange alert for rain and dusty conditions in some Eastern areas.
Light to moderate winds, which may freshen at times, are expected to blow across the country during the daytime today.
The NCM had predicted that temperatures could rise as high as 47ºC in internal regions on Sunday. In Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the mercury is expected to reach up to 43ºC and 42ºC, respectively.
Sea conditions are expected to be slight in both the Arabian Gulf and the Oman Sea.
