The Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) has announced that the UAE’s financial markets will remain closed on December 2 and 3 to mark the country’s 53rd National Day, now celebrated as Eid Al Etihad. Trading activities will resume on December 4.
Both public and private sector employees will enjoy a four-day break, including the weekend. Public sector holidays on Monday and Tuesday, December 2 and 3, are paid, as announced earlier by the UAE Government.
In Sharjah, government employees will benefit from a five-day weekend due to the emirate’s Friday-to-Sunday official weekend policy. Regular operations in the public sector there will resume on Wednesday, December 4.
Eid Al Etihad celebrates the union of the seven Emirates in 1971, a key milestone in UAE history. The theme represents heritage, unity, and national pride. This year’s official celebrations will take place in Al Ain, known for its picturesque landscapes. These events are expected to include the presence of the country’s Rulers and leaders, underscoring their importance.
The long weekend offers residents and visitors an opportunity to immerse themselves in the country’s cultural festivities and historic commemorations.
