Waqf (Islamic endowment or charitable trust) donors can now qualify for a UAE Golden Visa under the “financial supporters of humanitarian work” category, following a new cooperation agreement signed on Friday between the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) and the Endowments and Minors Affairs Foundation (Awqaf Dubai).
Under this agreement, Awqaf Dubai will put forward nominations for endowers — including both residents and non-residents — who fulfil the eligibility requirements set out in Cabinet Resolution No. (65) of 2022 for the Golden Visa category targeting “financial supporters of humanitarian work.”
Based on the approved nominations, GDRFA-Dubai will issue the corresponding residency permits. Additionally, a joint committee comprising both entities will be established to oversee the implementation process and evaluate results, ensuring the initiative meets its intended social objectives.
“This collaboration reflects our commitment to strengthening Dubai’s role as a global hub for tolerance and humanitarian initiatives, while fostering institutional coordination to support national efforts aimed at making Dubai a sustainable and human-focused city,” GDRFA stated.
