On Friday, the UAE Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology joined BRICS counterparts in launching a Centre for Industrial Competences, in partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), to enhance industrial skills and capabilities.
The announcement was made at the 8th BRICS Industry Ministers Meeting, attended by ministers from the UAE, Russia, Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Iran, and South Africa. Chaired by Russia, the meeting focused on “strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development and security.”
The centre aims to foster partnerships within the New Industrial Revolution (NIR), addressing challenges and opportunities in the evolving industrial landscape. It will also work on developing and enabling industrial skills among its members. The declaration includes plans to establish working groups in various sectors, including chemicals, metals, SMEs, smart manufacturing, clean technology, and medical equipment.
