TA’ZIZ has awarded a USD 1.7B (AED 6.2B) engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract to SAMSUNG E&A for the development of one of the world’s largest methanol plants in Al Ruwais Industrial City, located in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra region.

The new subsidiary will leverage over 15 years of experience, particularly from the successful delivery of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Programme and the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, which achieved full-fleet operations in September 2024.

ADNOC has strengthened its partnership with Malaysia’s PETRONAS by finalising a second 15-year sales and purchase agreement (SPA) for liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Ruwais LNG project. The agreement converts an earlier heads of agreement (HoA) into a binding deal, with PETRONAS set to procure one million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG starting in 2028, upon the project’s commercial launch.
