Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity has entered into two major contracts worth approximately KD238 million to modernize and maintain the country’s power and water distillation plants. The agreements are part of a strategic initiative to enhance operational performance and extend the lifespan of essential infrastructure.
Contracts Target Modernization and Sustainability
The contracts, announced on December 28, reflect Kuwait’s commitment to improving its national power and water systems. According to the Kuwait News Agency, the Ministry of Electricity secured all necessary regulatory approvals for the projects from relevant state authorities.
The first contract involves upgrading gas and steam turbine units used for power generation. This effort focuses on delivering high-precision engineering services to ensure optimal performance and long-term reliability.
The second contract centers on the modernization of steam boilers at the Doha West Power Plant, essential for both electricity generation and water distillation. This agreement includes upgrades to auxiliary systems and aims to extend the lifespan of the boilers by approximately 20 years.
