The Kuwaiti Cabinet has officially declared Thursday, June 26, as a public holiday in observance of the Islamic New Year (Hijri New Year). This announcement was made during the Cabinet’s weekly meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al Ahmad Al Sabah.
As a result, all ministries and state institutions will suspend operations for the day. Work will resume as normal on Sunday, June 29.
Nation Marks Hijri New Year with Official Greetings
In its announcement, the Cabinet extended congratulations to Amir Sheikh Meshal Al Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah and Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al Sabah. The Cabinet also offered well-wishes to the citizens of Kuwait on the occasion of the Islamic New Year.
This decision aligns with national traditions and reinforces Kuwait’s ongoing commitment to honouring significant Islamic events through official public observances.
