A high-level UAE delegation, led by His Excellency Omran Sharaf, Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology, has concluded a strategic visit to Germany. The mission focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation across science, emerging technologies, and advanced research. It also aimed to build enduring partnerships in innovation and digital modernization.
The visit commenced in Berlin with the UAE’s participation in GITEX Europe. This was followed by several high-level bilateral meetings with senior German government officials. H.E. Sharaf met with H.E. Dr. Karsten Wildberger, Federal Minister for Digital Affairs and State Modernization; Dr. Silke Launert, Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of Research, Technology, and Space; and Gitta Connemann, State Secretary and Government Commissioner for SMEs at the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy.
Engagement Across Germany’s Innovation Landscape
While in Berlin, the delegation joined a roundtable hosted by NUMOV—one of Germany’s largest platforms for advancing economic collaboration with MENA countries. They also visited the Merantix AI Campus, a key hub for artificial intelligence research and innovation.
Additionally, the UAE delegation participated in a roundtable hosted by the Ghorfa Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. These sessions allowed the UAE to showcase its growing technological ecosystem and explore potential synergies with German institutions.
H.E. Sharaf later traveled to Heilbronn to attend the TECH25 Conference. There, he joined an interview with Handelsblatt and engaged with senior leaders from Germany’s innovation and startup sectors. In Stuttgart, the delegation held bilateral meetings with H.E. Danyal Bayaz, Minister of Finance, and Christoph Werner, CEO of dm-drogerie markt.
Advancing Global Innovation Through Strategic Alliances
Throughout the visit, the UAE delegation emphasized the critical role of international collaboration in shaping the future of science and technology. They highlighted the need to build secure, innovative ecosystems that support global research progress and digital transformation.
The delegation included His Excellency Ahmed Alattar, UAE Ambassador to Germany; Rashid Al Teneiji, Director of the Economic and Trade Affairs Department; and Nouf Al Hameli, Science and Advanced Technology Adviser. Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and EDGE Group also took part in the mission, underlining the UAE’s unified commitment to strengthening its technological partnerships abroad.
