The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has expanded its office in Abu Dhabi, adding a new training centre to support the Middle East’s growing aviation sector and develop future industry professionals.
Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority, inaugurated the facility alongside IATA representatives and the first group of trainees. Highlighting its significance, Al Suwaidi stated, “The new training centre reinforces the UAE’s position as a global aviation hub and demonstrates Abu Dhabi’s appeal to international organisations.”
The expanded office, strategically located in the UAE, will provide services to airlines, trainees, governments, and partners across the Middle East and beyond.
Kamil Alawadhi, IATA’s Regional Vice-President for Africa and the Middle East, noted, “Our team in Abu Dhabi has grown by 140% in 18 months. This expansion enhances our ability to support stakeholders and contribute to the aviation sector’s growth, which is vital to the region’s economic and social development.”
