Dubai Police have introduced fines for traffic offences, with penalties exceeding $800 for speeding and various AI-monitored violations.
The General Department of Traffic at Dubai Police has outlined offences detected by AI-powered radar systems, detailing the corresponding fines, vehicle impoundment periods, and black points. This initiative aims to enhance road safety and reduce accidents.
Dubai Police Traffic Fines
Dubai Police have listed traffic violations monitored by advanced systems. Exceeding the speed limit by over 80kmph results in a AED 3,000 ($817) fine, a 60-day vehicle impoundment, and 23 black points. Speeding by 60kmph incurs a AED 2,000 ($545) fine, 20-day impoundment, and 12 black points. Fines for exceeding speed limits by 50kmph, 40kmph, 30kmph, and 20kmph are AED 1,000 ($272), AED 700 ($191), AED 600 ($163), and AED 300 ($82), respectively.
Running a red light leads to a AED 1,000 ($272) fine, a 30-day impoundment, and 12 black points. Failing to stay in the mandatory lane results in a AED 400 ($109) fine, while heavy vehicles face a AED 1,500 ($408) fine and 12 black points. Driving against traffic incurs a AED 600 ($163) fine, a seven-day impoundment, and four black points. Misusing the road shoulder leads to a AED 1,000 ($272) fine, 30-day impoundment, and six black points.
Not wearing a seatbelt results in a AED 400 ($109) fine and four black points, while mobile phone use while driving incurs an AED 800 ($218) fine and four black points. Exceeding the legal tint limit leads to a AED 1,500 ($408) fine.
Failing to maintain a safe distance results in a AED 400 ($109) fine and four black points. Excessive noise leads to a AED 2,000 ($545) fine and 12 black points. Not yielding to pedestrians incurs a AED 500 ($136) fine and six black points.
Illegal turning, driving with an expired licence, or obstructing other vehicles each result in a AED 500 ($136) fine. Stopping unnecessarily in the road leads to a AED 1,000 ($272) fine and six black points. Heavy vehicles in prohibited areas face a AED 1,000 ($272) fine and four black points.
