Renowned Italian aircraft manufacturer Blackshape, part of Angel Holding, is making its inaugural appearance at the Abu Dhabi Air Expo, one of the most prestigious global aviation events. From November 19-21, 2024, Blackshape will present its cutting-edge Gabriél BK160-200, an advanced composite aircraft that represents Italy’s world-class engineering and innovative design. The aircraft will be on display at stand 440, marking Blackshape’s first participation in the UAE.
Based in Monopoli, Italy, Blackshape is well-known for producing high-performance aircraft using composite materials, catering to a broad spectrum of markets, including civil, military, and recreational sectors. With a legacy of over 100 aircraft built, Blackshape has earned a reputation for quality and technological advancement that resonates with pilots globally. The Gabriél BK160-200 is a prime example of this legacy, a two-seat tandem aircraft equipped with a piston engine, retractable landing gear, and fully certified by both EASA and FAA. Its versatility allows it to be used for civilian and military pilot training, as well as for private and recreational flying.
The Gabriél BK160-200 will also be showcased with its long-range capabilities. To demonstrate its reliability, a Gabriél BK160-200 will fly more than 4,000 kilometers from Italy to the UAE, piloted by Blackshape’s chief pilot. This remarkable flight will serve as a real-time demonstration of the aircraft’s high-performance and long-distance capabilities.
In addition to the Gabriél, Blackshape also manufactures the Prime, a two-seat ultralight aircraft made from composite materials. The Prime, which is certified by aviation authorities in several countries, has become a favorite for its agility and performance.
“We are thrilled to showcase the Gabriél BK160-200 for the first time at this event and to see our engineering and manufacturing excellence appreciated in a region that has always valued avant-garde technology and innovation,” said Blackshape CEO Niccolò Chierroni. “This participation represents a strategic step to strengthen our presence in international markets and further position Blackshape’s Gabriél, along with future developments, as a reference platform for primary/basic aeronautical training.”
The debut of the Gabriél BK160-200 at the Abu Dhabi Air Expo exemplifies Blackshape’s commitment to advancing aviation technology and expanding its global footprint. With a focus on efficiency, performance, and sustainability, Blackshape continues to push the boundaries of air travel.
