Tawazun Council, the acquisition authority for the Ministry of Defence in the UAE, has revealed the signing of five contracts valued at AED 971M with both local and international companies.
The announcement came at the conclusion of the inaugural day of the sixth edition of the Unmanned Systems Exhibition (UMEX) and the Simulation and Training Exhibition (SimTEX) 2024.

This announcement was made in the presence of Zayed Saeed Al Meraikhi and Majed Ahmed Al Jaberi, the official spokespeople for Tawazun Council, Saeed bin Khadim Al Mansouri, Advisor for Defence Exhibitions at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Center (ADNEC), official delegations, and local and international media representatives.
On the first day of UMEX SimTEX 2024, Tawazun Council signed deals worth AED 899M with three local companies and AED 72M with two international companies.
Al Meraikhi disclosed that the local contracts included an agreement with “Resource Industries” to procure Anti-drone guns valued at AED 10M and a contract with “International Golden Group” for UAV systems and related support services and training for five years, totaling AED 874M.
Another contract with “Star Satellite Communications Company” (YAHSAT) was signed for communications bands, amounting to AED 16M.
Al Jaberi announced the international contracts signed on the first day, which included a deal with the Canadian company “Canadian Aviation Electronics” (CAE) for service provision to support simulators for the training centre, valued at AED 49M.
Additionally, a contract with the Chinese company CETC INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD (CATIC) to purchase drone defense systems was signed at a value of AED 23M.
Al Meraikhi emphasized that “UMEX SimTEX 2024” showcases the UAE’s global leadership in unmanned systems, simulation, and training.
He reiterated Tawazun Council’s commitment to fostering collaboration among major defence industry players, both locally and globally, to stay at the forefront of rapid technological developments in this field.
