The Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) reported that Sharjah International Airport handled 17,101,725 passengers in 2024, an 11.4% rise from 15,356,212 in 2023. Flights increased by 9.5% to 107,760, compared to 98,433 in the previous year.
Cargo operations achieved a significant 38.6% growth, reaching 195,909 tonnes, alongside 14,035 tonnes via sea-air cargo, reinforcing its role as a logistics hub.
Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of SAA, attributed this record performance to the airport’s dedication to premium services and strategic efforts, including plans to accommodate 25 million passengers annually by 2027. He highlighted ongoing upgrades to facilities, enhanced operations, and sustainable initiatives aligned with the UAE’s aviation goals.
Sheikh Faisal bin Saoud Al Qassimi, Director of SAA, noted passenger growth reflects Sharjah’s advancements in tourism, economic development, and investment, supported by robust infrastructure and governance.
In 2024, Sharjah Airport added seven direct routes, including destinations such as Warsaw, Krakow, Athens, Vienna, and Malé through Air Arabia, and Tripoli via Fly Oya. Six new airlines, including Flynas, AJet, and Fly Jinnah, further expanded connectivity to over 100 global destinations.
Air cargo operations also grew, with Kenya Airways, UPS, Tanzania Airlines, and Qatar Airways Cargo launching new routes. The airport supported Sharjah’s food security by importing 2,200 cattle in 13 flights for the Mleiha Dairy Farm project.
These developments position Sharjah Airport as a leading global air transport and logistics hub, driving regional growth and connectivity.
