Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed significant traffic upgrades at four key locations within the Al Safa 1 Schools Complex.
These enhancements include expanding entry and exit points and adding traffic-calming measures such as traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.
The RTA continues to focus on improving the efficiency of Dubai’s road network, aligning with the city’s development goals and catering to road users’ needs.
These initiatives aim to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance safety standards across Dubai’s roads.
Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at the Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA, noted: “The recent upgrades in Al Safa 1 are designed to benefit road users, including businesses, students, and the approximately 60,000 residents in the area.”
At the first site, a 255-metre lane was added to the service road for vehicles travelling from the junction of Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Hadiqa Road towards the roundabout leading to Street 13. This is expected to improve traffic flow and reduce travel time to Al Safa 1 Schools Complex by 20 per cent.
The second site involved creating 22 parallel parking spaces near Al Safa School and Al Ittihad School to reduce congestion during peak hours.
At the third location, the RTA widened the exit to Al Wasl Street from Street 19 by adding a 330-metre-long lane, improving traffic distribution and signal timing, and adding 18 parking spaces near Jumeirah College.
The fourth site saw the creation of an additional U-turn on Al Wasl Street, with a traffic signal and pedestrian crossing to enhance safety for both motorists and pedestrians.
