Abu Dhabi has introduced a groundbreaking financial support program for newlywed Emirati couples. The Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority (SSA) has unveiled an interest-free loan scheme worth up to Dh150,000 to assist eligible Emirati nationals in building their lives together.
To qualify for the loan, both spouses must be Emirati citizens, with the husband aged at least 21 and the wife at least 18 years old at the time of marriage. The couple must also possess a Family Book issued in Abu Dhabi, and the husband’s monthly income should be below Dh60,000. Applications will be accepted exclusively from the husband through the Medeem Digital Platform, with the loan disbursement process commencing in early September 2024.
This initiative aligns with the Abu Dhabi Family Wellbeing Strategy and the Emirati Family Growth Program, both spearheaded by the Department of Community Development – Abu Dhabi. By providing financial assistance, the government aims to enhance the quality of life for Emirati families, encourage early marriages within the nation’s cultural framework, and foster strong, united family structures.
Abdulla Al Ameri, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority, expressed the government’s commitment to strengthening family ties and boosting the Emirati population. “This initiative is a testament to our dedication to creating a stable and supportive environment for Emirati families,” Al Ameri stated. “By empowering young couples, we are investing in the future of our nation.”
The interest-free marriage loan is expected to significantly benefit Emirati couples, easing financial burdens and allowing them to focus on building their lives together.
