Japan is in the process of considering visa-free travel options for Kuwaitis and is close to implementing visa waivers for diplomats, as confirmed by a senior official.
The Japanese government is actively working to facilitate travel for Kuwaitis to Japan, undertaking various measures to achieve this objective, according to Japanese Ambassador Morino Yasunari.
The Ambassador stated, “What we are now trying to do is to exempt the Kuwaiti people who hold official and diplomatic passports from visas. We have already reached an agreement in principle with the Kuwaiti government, and we are waiting for the final procedure.”
When asked about the possibility of tourism visas following the approval of official and diplomatic passports, Ambassador Morino indicated that it would indeed be the next step. The consultation with the Kuwaiti government will focus on how to enhance the movement of people.
Over 5,000 citizens have visited Japan in the past year, and there have been student exchanges between the two nations, according to Arabian Business.
These statements were made during an Embassy reception commemorating the birthday of the Emperor of Japan, attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
Ambassador Morino praised the longstanding relations between the two countries and expressed Japan’s desire to attract foreign investments from Kuwait, emphasizing the country’s high-quality human capital and competitive research and development. Japan aims to achieve a JY100tn ($666B) investment balance by 2030.
Regarding the upcoming Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, the Ambassador mentioned that it was one year and two months away from the grand international event’s opening. He expressed hopes for the expo to serve as an epoch-making occasion, reaffirming the importance of mutual understanding, harmony, and cooperation for peace and further human development.
