Dubai witnessed a 31 per cent rise in tourists from China in 2024 as the emirate strengthened its position as a preferred destination for Chinese travellers. Around 824,000 visitors from China travelled to Dubai during the year, highlighting strong demand from the market.
Officials continued efforts to improve accessibility and convenience for Chinese tourists by introducing wider payment options, Mandarin-speaking services, and special cultural experiences linked to Chinese New Year celebrations.
The increase in Chinese visitor numbers supported Dubai’s record-breaking tourism performance, with the city attracting 18.72 million international travellers in 2024, representing a 9 per cent year-on-year increase.
Dubai’s tourism growth was further driven by international marketing initiatives and strategic partnerships designed to broaden the city’s global reach and enhance travel experiences for visitors.
The hospitality sector also expanded steadily, with Dubai operating 832 hotels by the end of 2024, including new luxury properties. Average hotel occupancy stood at 78.2 per cent, reflecting continued strong demand across the industry.
