The United Arab Emirates will participate in the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Spring Meetings 2025. The meetings will take place in Washington, D.C., from April 21 to April 26. The UAE delegation will be led by Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs.
Joining Al Hussaini are Khaled Mohamed Balama, Governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, and Younis Haji AlKhoori, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Finance. Ebrahim Obaid Al Zaabi, Ahmed Saeed Al Qamzi, and Ali Abdullah Sharafi are also part of the delegation. Several senior financial experts will accompany them to discuss global economic priorities.
Strengthening Global Cooperation
The meetings will focus on fiscal and monetary policy strategies, global economic resilience, and international collaboration. These topics aim to help nations navigate shifting financial landscapes and unlock growth opportunities.
Al Hussaini highlighted the importance of global cooperation. He said, “This year’s IMF/WBG Spring Meetings offer a strategic platform to coordinate international efforts and strengthen cooperation in tackling global economic and financial challenges.”
He added that the UAE values partnerships with financial institutions to promote economic stability. “We believe coordination and collaboration are key to achieving global economic stability and fulfilling our regional and international responsibilities,” he said.
UAE’s Engagement at Key Sessions
The UAE delegation will join several important meetings. These include the ministerial meeting for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan with the IMF Managing Director, as well as a closed-door roundtable with MENA Ministers of Finance.
Their schedule also features:
- The second G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting.
- The International Monetary and Financial Committee plenary session.
- The second BRICS Finance and Central Bank Deputies Meeting.
In addition, discussions will cover global economic prospects, development financing, climate action, and digital transformation.
Supporting Emirati Students
The UAE embassy in Washington will host a panel for Emirati students. Titled “Employment Opportunities in International Financial Organisations,” the event will highlight career paths at global financial institutions. This initiative will connect students with experts and offer guidance for future roles in international finance.
