Consumers in the UAE can now register complaints against banks and licensed insurance companies through Sanadak, the country’s inaugural ombudsman unit dedicated to resolving customer issues within the financial sector.
Launched on Thursday, Sanadak’s services alleviate the legal burden on consumers, eliminating the necessity to pursue claims in court or through judicial authorities.
Fatma al Jabri, Sanadak’s chairwoman, expressed the UAE’s commitment to creating a more coherent financial landscape, where complaints are transparently and efficiently resolved, fostering trust and stability.
Sanadak, the Mena region’s first independent ombudsman, establishes a benchmark for consumer protection and financial readiness, according to The National News.
In 2021, the UAE Central Bank initiated the country’s first financial consumer protection framework to ensure fair treatment and protection for banking and financial services customers.
Sanadak’s creation aligns with the UAE leadership’s directive to enhance government services and protect consumers, showcasing the nation’s dedication to becoming a global leader in financial consumer protection.
Consumers facing issues such as overcharged fees, financial fraud, or mis-selling of financial products can now register complaints on Sanadak’s website, with two distinct options for financial services and banks, and licensed insurance companies.
