The UAE government has approved a new national policy to combat health risks and enhance the country’s medical preparedness. The policy was introduced during a Cabinet meeting chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi.
The initiative aims to strengthen the country’s readiness for health emergencies, improve disease prevention measures, and expand access to life-saving treatments.
Key Focus Areas of the New Health Policy
The National Health Risk Management Policy outlines measures for:
- Prevention and Preparedness – Identifying potential health threats and improving national response mechanisms.
- Medical Readiness – Establishing rapid response protocols for pandemics and health crises.
- Quality of Life Improvements – Enhancing public health initiatives and disease prevention programs.
Expansion of Organ Transplant Regulations
The Cabinet also approved executive regulations governing organ and tissue donation and transplantation, aiming to improve access to advanced medical treatments.
Key updates include:
- Over 13 licensed organ transplant centers operating in the UAE.
- A 30% increase in transplant procedures, including kidney, liver, heart, lung, and pancreas transplants.
- Enhanced regulatory frameworks to streamline donation processes and improve medical outcomes.
