The United Arab Emirates Cabinet announced Monday that it has approved the establishment of a High Commission on the Government’s Digital Transformation.
The committee, headed by Ohood Khalfan Al Roumi, minister of state for government development and the future, aims to “supervise and guide the development of the digital ecosystem for the UAE government,” a statement on WAM said.
This will enhance readiness, competitiveness, flexibility and digital alignment between projects and digital systems in federal government agencies, the statement added.
“One of the committee’s core goals is to raise the efficiency of its use of infrastructure and digital assets, while enhancing integration between government agencies and institutions to maximise the impact of the comprehensive digital transformation.”
The higher committee will be responsible for preparing policies for digital transformation in the federal government, the statement said, adding it will review and follow up on necessary strategies, programs and initiatives as part of the transformation process.
The committee will also issue guiding components for projects in line with the digitisation of government services, business and operations, among others.
The committee will comprise of the director general of the telecommunications and digital government regulatory authority (TDRA), the director general of the federal authority for government human resources, the UAE head of cyber security, the chief of government services, the deputy director general for the telecommunications sector, and a representative from the finance ministry, WAM said.
Omar bin Sultan AL – olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications, will chair the committee.
