The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) reported a record balance sheet of AED 789.82B by the end of April 2024, marking the first time it has reached this level. This represents a year-on-year increase of 25 percent from approximately AED 631.63B in April 2023, according to a report released by the CBUAE today.
On a monthly basis, the central bank’s balance sheet grew by 2.4 percent, or AED 18.6B, rising from AED 771.23B in March 2024.
In the first four months of this year, the balance sheet increased by 9.6%, or AED 68.9B, compared to AED 720.9B at the end of last year.
The statistics indicate that the Central Bank’s balance sheet assets in April included AED 362.66B in cash and bank balances, approximately AED 214.3B in investments, AED 174.16B in deposits, AED 1.73B in loans and advances, and AED 36.96B in other assets.
On the liabilities and capital side, the sheet included AED 343.26B for current and deposit accounts, around AED 259.92B for monetary bills and Islamic certificates of deposit, AED 146.79B for issued banknotes and coins, AED 24.75B for capital and reserves, and AED 15.1B for other liabilities.
