Authorities announced on Saturday that residents of Ras Al Khaimah can now board a public bus directly to Dubai’s popular festival site, Global Village; a single ticket costs AED30. According to a statement, the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) inaugurated the bus route in response to increased demand from people who want to visit the family-friendly destination, in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai and the Global Village.
The bus service is only operated on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, as per Khaleej Times, with two roundtrips every day. Trips from Ras Al Khaimah to Global Village are scheduled at 3 p.m. and 5 p.m., with returns from the park to the emirate at 10 p.m. and 12 a.m.
The initiative’s trial launch began on December 16, 2022. Using the smart app RAKBus, commuters can book and pay for their trips online. A single ticket costs AED30. According to Mohamed Hashem Esmaeel, director of RAKTA’s Quality and Operations Control Department, the route’s opening fits into the authority’s objective to extend intercity bus service and make public transportation more accessible to all.
“The RTA Dubai is keen to implement long-term strategies based on ambitious plans…to integrate the mass transport network within Dubai and create an effective link between the emirate and others,” said Adel Shakri, director of the Planning and Business Development Department at the Public Transport Agency at RTA Dubai.
“We are proud to cooperate with RAKTA and RTA Dubai to provide this new service that would contribute to facilitating the arrival of guests from the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah to the Global Village to enjoy a more wonderful world,” stated Muhannad Ishaq, senior director of guest relations at Global Village.
