The UAE and Japan will strengthen their trade ties this year as they finalise negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
Dr Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, announced that the UAE and Japan will conclude CEPA discussions by the end of 2025.
Dr Thani Al Zeyoudi highlighted that the ongoing negotiations reflect the strong commitment of both nations to deepening economic cooperation. The agreement aims to create new avenues for developmental partnerships, fostering economic growth and generating more opportunities for businesses in both countries.
UAE and Japan Trade
He noted that the UAE is Japan’s largest trade partner in the Arab world for both exports and imports, accounting for around 37 per cent of Japan’s total exports to the region. At the same time, Japan remains one of the UAE’s top ten trading partners.
In September 2024, the UAE and Japan began discussions on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement to expand economic, investment and trade relations, paving the way for enhanced developmental collaboration.
