Zhang Yiming, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the UAE, highlighted the importance of the ongoing China-Arab Entrepreneurs Summit 2024, which began in Abu Dhabi on May 15.
In press statements during the summit, the ambassador mentioned that the event focuses on various issues, including green innovation, energy security, technological innovation, financial investment, digital transformation in education, and other sectors, aiming to enhance practical cooperation between China and Arab countries.
He praised the extensive strategic partnership between China and the UAE, noting that bilateral relations have maintained a strong trajectory in recent years under the leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Despite the global economic slowdown in 2023, trade between China and the UAE approached nearly $100B, he noted, underscoring the UAE’s position as China’s second-largest trading partner.
The UAE is a major market for Chinese exports and the third-largest market for Chinese engineering projects in the Arab world, he added, highlighting the significant bilateral cooperation across various sectors, with over 8,000 Chinese companies involved.
