ADNOC Gas, in collaboration with Baker Hughes, has successfully deployed a new technology that captures carbon from methane, the primary component of natural gas, and converts it into graphene. This breakthrough, developed by the British climate tech firm Levidian, has been implemented at ADNOC Gas’ Habshan Gas Processing Plant, marking the first use of the LOOP technology at an operational gas processing site.

Emirates Nuclear Energy Company (ENEC) has launched ENEC Consulting, a strategic advisory subsidiary aimed at supporting the global expansion of civil nuclear energy programmes and infrastructure. This move follows ENEC’s rebranding efforts and its ambition to become a global leader in nuclear energy solutions. The new subsidiary will leverage over 15 years of experience, particularly from the successful delivery of the UAE Peaceful Nuclear Energy Programme and the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, which achieved full-fleet operations in September 2024.

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan chaired ADNOC’s annual board meeting at its headquarters, where he approved the launch of XRG, a company focused on lower-carbon energy and chemicals. XRG aims to accelerate ADNOC’s global expansion and meet the rising demand for natural gas, chemicals, and low-carbon energy sources.

ADNOC and Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) have signed a Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with Microsoft, aiming to drive AI and low-carbon initiatives in the UAE and internationally. The focus is on decarbonising the current energy system and enabling a sustainable energy future.

Dubai has once again secured its place among the top five cities in the 2024 International Shipping Centre Development Index (ISCD), according to a report by the Baltic Exchange and Xinhua News Agency. This marks the fifth consecutive year that Dubai has ranked fifth, maintaining its position as the only Arab city in the top 20, alongside Singapore, London, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
