Sheikh Zayed Road will temporarily close twice this November for the Dubai Fitness Challenge, transforming the city’s main highway into an iconic sports venue.
In November, Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed Road will shut down for motorists on two separate occasions to host popular fitness events.
On Sunday, 10th November, the Dubai Ride—a free community cycling event under the Dubai Fitness Challenge—will take place. Cyclists must complete their rides by 8:15 am, when the road reopens.
Following this, on Sunday, 24th November, Sheikh Zayed Road will become a running track for the Dubai Run. The final groups for the 10 km and 5 km races will start at 7:30 am and 8:00 am, respectively, with road access expected to resume later in the morning.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has yet to announce specific alternative routes or reopening times, though last year closures began at 4 am and ended by 10 am.
The public is encouraged to use the metro on Sunday morning, with Dubai World Trade Centre station providing convenient access for run participants.
The Dubai Run is part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC), an initiative by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai.
This year’s DFC features three pop-up fitness villages, including the iconic Kite Beach Fitness Village, 25 community fitness hubs citywide, 600 free fitness classes, and over 400 hours of activities scheduled throughout the month.
