Saudi Arabia has revealed intentions to create 59 logistics zones by 2030 as part of its Vision 2030 agenda.
The announcement took place during a reception hosted by the Saudi Transport General Authority in London, attended by prominent figures including the Saudi Ambassador to the UK, Prince Khalid Bn Bandar Bin Sultan, and Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistic Services, Dr. Rumaih Al Rumaih.
Prince Khalid emphasized the nation’s commitment to achieving Vision 2030 and underscored the significance of recent advancements in the maritime industry.
Dr. Al Rumaih commended the advancements achieved in logistics services and the Kingdom’s commitment to preserving the marine environment.
In his presentation on the logistics zones’ plans, Dr. Al Rumaih stated that their goal is to be among the top ten countries in the Logistics Performance Index by 2030.
Additionally, he disclosed intentions to expand the port capacity, accommodating over 40 million containers.
Dr. Al Rumaih expressed contentment with the improvements made in enhancing the marine environment and the successful collaborations with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) and its member states.
Dr. Al Rumaih schedules the Maritime Industry Sustainability Conference to take place from September 4 to 6, 2023. The conference will focus on the theme “Innovation for a Greener Future,” aiming to foster sustainable practices within the maritime industry.
